At College of DuPage, your safety and well-being is our top priority. Whether you're experiencing an emergency, have witnessed suspicious activity or need assistance navigating campus safely, we are here for you.
In addition to reporting a campus incident over the phone at (630) 942-2000, College of DuPage utilizes the following tools to keep students, staff, faculty and community members safe:
COD Alerts, powered by the Everbridge App, is the College of DuPage’s automated system for notifying you of school closings, emergency situations, and other important information. You are automatically enrolled when you register for a class and remain in the system until you have not enrolled in classes for three consecutive terms.
COD Alerts can send notifications via text message, email, and even voice messages to your phone. To ensure you receive alerts, download the Everbridge app from your phone’s app store (Apple App Store or Google Play).
Everbridge Safe Corridor
Safe Corridor is a personal safety feature available within the Everbridge Mobile app. It offers a virtual escort or safety check-in for users who may feel vulnerable or are in potentially risky situations.
With Safe Corridor, users can set a timer and enter a personal security code. If the correct code is not entered within the designated time—or if a duress code is used—an SOS alert is automatically sent to designated emergency contacts or authorities.
This feature is designed to discreetly enhance personal safety and provide peace of mind when walking alone, traveling, or in any situation where additional support may be needed.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is a camera system used by the College of DuPage Police Department to monitor activity across campus. Footage is transmitted to a limited number of monitors. More than 1,000 cameras are currently in place, covering both the interior and exterior of the main campus as well as the College of DuPage Centers.
Emergency call boxes, also known as blue light phones, are located throughout the campus exterior, including parking lots and sidewalks. These devices feature a blue light and provide a direct line to the College of DuPage Police Department in case of an emergency.
Red Phones are for emergency use only. When picked up, they connect directly to the College of DuPage dispatch center. These phones are mounted on walls throughout all campus buildings.
The Police Department provides a safety escort service for students, staff, and guests at the main campus in Glen Ellyn. Escorts are done within the campus boundaries. Contact the Police Department to request an escort.
There may be a short wait for your escort due to the various patrol functions and other duties required of officers.
