Valley City State University: 3+1 Bachelor of Applied Management – Landscape Management

A convenient, affordable and streamlined approach to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Management.

Who can enroll in the program?

  • Students who have completed an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Landscape Contracting and Management at College of DuPage (COD). 
  • New students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Management offered by Valley City State University.

The Advantage

With the 3+1 program, students pay COD tuition rates for COD coursework. The final 33 Valley City State University credit hours are offered at a significantly reduced rate, making the goal of continuing their education a reality for more students. This program exemplifies COD’s mission to make education more affordable for its students while stressing academic quality, first-class faculty and extraordinary learning environments.

Landscape Contracting and Management is a Nationally Accredited Degree through the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP).

Valley City State University coursework will be offered online at a discounted tuition rate.

Students also need to apply for graduation from the AAS degree program at COD. Not doing so will result in not receiving financial aid.

It is recommended that students using financial aid should begin applying to VCSU one semester before completing the AAS degree and ask for the financial aid consortium agreement. Students also need to apply for graduation from the AAS degree program at COD. Not doing so will result in not receiving financial aid.

Steps to Apply to the 3+1 Program

Once you are ready to get started, follow the steps below:

  1. Begin your studies at COD in your chosen degree. In collaboration with a COD counselor or program advisor, develop an academic plan that meets both the articulated Associate degree and transfer program requirements.
  2. Complete the 3+1 Transfer Application. Email the completed application to 3plus1@cod.edu or dropped it off at the front desk of the Counseling, Advising and Transfer office located in Student Services Center (SSC) 3200.
  3. Connect with the 3+1 partner school through a campus visit, advising session, or transfer event to ensure you understand program expectations and answer your questions. 
  4. Submit an official admission application one to two semesters before you complete your degree at COD. You'll need to request your official COD transcripts to be sent directly to the transfer destination.  
  5. Apply to graduate with an Associate degree identified in the 3+1 program map. After grades and degrees post, request your final official College of DuPage transcripts be sent to the transfer destination. 
  6. Once admitted into your 3+1 school, meet with an advisor to discuss the registration process. If you have applied for financial aid, you must activate a Consortium Agreement allowing your third-year courses to be paid for by the 3+1 school. You must be accepted into the 3+1 school before starting your third-year courses.
  7. After you have been accepted and have met with an advisor, register for your third-year (or junior-year) courses.
  8. Continue and complete your fourth-year courses. 

Important Notes

  • Students utilizing financial aid must apply and be accepted into Valley City State University prior to taking any classes beyond the AAS degree. It is recommended that students using financial aid should begin applying to Valley City State University one semester before completing the AAS degree and ask for the financial aid consortium agreement.
  • The AAS degree must be completed and conferred in order to validate this agreement. Students need to apply for graduation from the AAS degree program at COD.
