Employee Development Center

The Employee Development Center (EDC) is dedicated to supporting the growth and success of all employees by providing high-quality programs and valuable resources. Our mission is to deliver relevant learning opportunities that enhance both your work environment and your overall experience at COD.

Our programs and offerings are designed to help you become more effective in your current role. Our programs are often discussion-based, providing space for employees to observe, reflect, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Engage with the Employee Development Center

Employee Development opportunities are designed to help you become more effective in your current role (focusing on the non-technical aspect of development). These tend to be more discussion/dialog-focused and allow our employees time to observe, reflect, and discuss these "soft-skill" topics.

Examples of courses we offer to our employees throughout the year are:

  • Communications courses
  • Presentations courses
  • Effective meetings
  • Empathy at work

We can also work with teams to deliver customized training.

College of DuPage provides opportunities for Faculty to develop and deepen their skills in learning-centered teaching strategies, outcomes-based practice, scholarship of teaching and learning and creating communities of learners. Faculty can reach out to the Employee Development Center (edc@cod.edu) or the Faculty Professional Development Coordinator, Jennifer Kelley with questions or requests.

While leadership is both situational and positional - strong leadership is exemplified by characteristics of building relationships, communicating effectively, exhibiting visionary leadership, managing with courage and thinking strategically. These leadership characteristics are essential at every level and role within the College. To support our leaders at COD, we aim to deliver relevant discussions and sessions based on current industry trends and COD-specific needs.
