STEM student accepting scholarship

STEM Scholarships

Pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) can open the door to a wide range of exciting, high-demand careers—but the path to a STEM degree can also come with financial challenges. Fortunately, there are a variety of scholarship opportunities designed to support students in these fields. Explore the options below to see how you can fund your future in STEM and take the next step toward a rewarding career.

STEM Rise Scholarship

The STEM Rise Scholarship supports students in STEM majors who are paying at least part of their tuition costs themselves. Students are encouraged to apply if they are also single parents, responsible for care and finances of family members (siblings, parents, etc.), have significant health issues, are military veterans, have food/housing/significant financial insecurity, or are the first generation in their family to attend college.

This scholarship award is granted for one semester, though students may reapply each term. Scholarship amounts are based on the number of credit hours taken in the awarding term. These funds are for tuition charges (at the in-district rate) that are not covered by financial aid or other funding sources. Health science majors and student visa holders are not eligible.

Students are encouraged to apply and view all COD scholarship opportunities in the scholarship portal. Questions can be directed to scholarships@cod.edu.

STEM Student Success Scholarship

The STEM Student Success Scholarship, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, is a scholarship program to recruit and retain students in the targeted areas of Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Math, Computer and Information Science, and Computer and Information Technology. The scholarship amount depends on the student's financial need, up to $8,000/year, and comes with success coaching, faculty mentoring, and paid internship opportunities.
