Members of the College of DuPage Board of Trustees, local leaders and elected officials,
including Consul General of Japan Masashi Mizobuchi, recently visited the “Hokusai
and Ukiyo-e: The Floating World” exhibition at the McAninch Arts Center's (MAC) Cleve
Carney Museum of Art (CCMA).
COD President Dr. Muddassir Siddiqi joined guests as they viewed original paintings,
woodblock prints and rare artifacts that capture the vibrant artistry of Katsushika
Hokusai and his lasting influence on Japanese art and culture.
The exhibition, which runs through Sunday, Sept. 21, brings 17th-century Japan to life through meticulously crafted recreations, immersive experiences, hands-on activities and historical exhibits.
The multi-faceted exhibition centers around the world-class presentation of a 70-piece collection making its U.S. debut, featured as the “Museum Galleries – Chiossone Collection” in the exhibition. The collection features 53 paintings and woodblock prints by the masters of ukiyo-e, including original works by Hokusai, Hiroshige and their contemporaries, and 17 handcrafted objects.
