Apprenticeships are a way to advance your career by getting paid work experience and classroom instruction while earning nationally recognized credentials.

Project Hire-Ed facilitates apprenticeship programs in a variety of industries. Industries include:

  • Business
  • Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Electro Mechanical
  • Healthcare
  • Horticulture
  • Manufacturing Technology
  • Welding

Project Hire-Ed maintains an interest list for individuals who want to be notified when new apprenticeship opportunities become available. You can indicate the industries and occupations you're interested in, and we’ll reach out when an employer partner is recruiting for an apprenticeship in your selected areas. Apprenticeship Benefits

Apprentice programs provide an opportunity for students to train for a career and attend College of DuPage. Apprentices can also:

  • Earn a wage, receive health care benefits, paid time off and other employment benefits
  • Receive wage increases as skills increase or set milestones are reached.
  • Begin a career and earn college credits
  • Graduate with no college debt since employers pay for the full cost of the student's program courses, labs and fees
  • Most apprentices will earn both a Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship certificate as well as a College of DuPage Academic certificate.

The apprenticeship program is geared toward:

  • Current students
  • Career changers
  • Veterans
  • Unemployed or under-employed individuals
  • Recent high school or GED graduates
  • Current high school students (students may be eligible to begin foundational skills courses while in high school.)
Interested individuals can apply to specific apprenticeship opportunities at various times throughout the year.  Applications will open when an employer partner is seeking to hire an apprentice.  To be added to the interest list to receive an email when applications are open, complete the inquiry form. 

Interested individuals may apply for any apprenticeship position in which they are interested.  Application requirements will vary depending on the employer, but typically you will be asked to submit a resume.  Employers will review applicant materials and contact those who they wish to interview.  College of DuPage does not make hiring decisions for apprenticeship positions.
